Meet Mariel, an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who completed her Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southern Methodist University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Service Studies from Elon University and practices under the clinical supervision of Dr. Neda Safvati, Psy.D. (PSY25346).
Grounded in Existential Therapy, Mariel’s clinical approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply thoughtful. She believes that emotional distress often stems from the universal challenge of creating personal meaning and navigating individual responsibility. Mariel views the therapeutic relationship as a partnership, acting as a supportive guide rather than an instructor with all the answers. She is dedicated to helping clients embrace their lives fully, foster genuine connections, and engage in the meaningful personal work necessary for lasting growth.
Mariel practices through a trauma-informed lens, drawing on her background in crisis intervention and trauma recovery. She specializes in supporting adolescents, emerging adults, adults, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. To assist clients in processing experiences that traditional talk therapy may not fully capture, she also integrates expressive arts into her practice.
Outside of her clinical work, Mariel enjoys exploring the greater Los Angeles area. Her interests include traveling, listening to music, visiting local coffee shops, and spending time with her Goldendoodle.
