Meet Carly Kiel, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #165179 who provides collaborative strength-based therapy to adults, couples, and families. Carly earned her Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from National University and completed her clinical training at Burbank Family Services Agency. At Tiny Steps, she provides mental health services under the supervision of Dr. Neda Safvati, PsyD., PSY #25346.
Carly brings warmth, curiosity, and humanity to every session, honoring each client’s unique lived experiences and the relationships they hold with themselves and others. She believes a comfortable, trusting therapeutic alliance is the essential foundation for growth. Rooted in narrative therapy, Carly helps clients explore the stories that shape their identities. She approaches her work with nonjudgment and compassion, operating from the understanding that there is no "right" way to live a life. By integrating Emotionally Focused Therapy, solution-focused techniques, and attachment-based approaches, Carly adapts her practice to meet each client’s individual goals and needs.
Carly has worked with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families navigating depression, anxiety, life transitions, trauma, complex relationships, and challenges related to self-perception and self-esteem. She is particularly interested in family dynamics, attachment, and the impacts of early experiences on the ways we relate to ourselves and others. As an adoptee herself, Carly has personal and professional interest in supporting clients navigating the complexities of adoption, identity, belonging, and family relationships.
In a previous life, Carly worked for nearly two decades as a writer and editor. She also holds a Master's degree in Nonfiction Writing from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in English from Colgate University. Carly lives with her cat, dog, and husband in Los Feliz. Outside of work, she loves movies and typically watches about 10 per week.
